Wow. The crowd has spoken. Infinity died. Justice (by All) prevailed. Don’t tell Dee but we’re pretty sad to see F8 go.

After the timer on the countdown clock hit 0, things moved in negative time until F8 announced on his Twitter that Dee was running late. At this point, Twitter fun ensued – F8 speculated whether Dee’s delay had anything to do with Facebook being down; Echo rickrolled F8 by tweeting the lyrics of “Never Gonna Give Up;” the girls of hideme asked him out on a sexd8, and Wouter claimed F8 is more awesome than the OldSpice guy.

After all that good fun, www.weweremeanttomeetagain.com pushed out to a hijacked version of serialhuntress.com, with her signature tagline, Justice by All hacked to say Murder by All. The meaning of those words became clear minutes into the experience. Players watched Dee approach F8 in a restaurant and found out that he had rigged a system where their lives were in the hands of her crowd. The system allowed players to vote on who to kill right from the Huntress’ site, with a timer counting down to the moment of truth when one of two rifles would go off (or both rifles, in the case of a tie).

In what must surely have made F8 proud of his scheme, players flooded to vote, showing little conflict with the notion of being part of this fictional execution. Many even shared their choices on Twitter and Facebook, and some got the attention of the official DEXTER Twitter (although, to be clear, only the votes on the site were counted).

The results were surprising, to say the least. Despite general sympathy towards F8 throughout the game, when forced to make a decision, the majority of players actually voted to kill Infinity (it wasn’t even CLOSE). Dee confirmed his death in a later post and promised a follow-up.

In the forums, heated discussions ensued after Infinity got shot. Many players argued their decision on a moral basis (who knew the Internet was this nice?), some invoked Harry’s code, and others seemed upset at losing their serial killer buddy. Seek3r started an “in memoriam” thread. Echo made an epic tribute video. And hope remains that now that F8’s shown himself, we will see his slim, handsome face grace the ice once more.
